We stock the commonly requested parts for the boats we sell, and can order nearly anything at competitive pricing. (If your interested please fill out a service request form on our website)
|
Why aren’t the batteries for my boat holding a charge?
Usually this is an indication that the fluid level is low. Inspect the fluid level of the battery. Depending on your use of the boat, you may have to do this as often as every week.
|
What kind of bottom paint did you use on my new boat?
We have only used Interlux Fiberglass Bottomkote since 1999.
|
What should I re-paint the bottom with?
Nearly any bottom paint can be used over Interlux Fiberglass Bottomkote, but be sure to check the label on the paint you chose for compatibility. Most people choose to re-paint with Interlux Fiberglass Bottomkote ACT, as it’s ablative properties prevent a build up of layers of paint over the years.

Does my mainsail furler require maintenance?
MAINTENANCE for FURLING MASTS
Maintenance of a furling mast requires a yearly verification of some of the mechanical parts. The mainsail should be taken out once a year. At this time the halyard swivel and the endless screw will be checked. The halyard swivel should be checked for adequate rotation. There should be no hard point during turning. Rinsing the part with fresh water is sufficient. If you need to remove the swivel, unlock the connecting link between the screw mechanism and the furling rod can be removed at the bottom by pulling the tack bolt or J hook. Lift the link and the rod together to slide the swivel out of the furling cavity. The screw that holds the top of the link can be removed to push the link inside the furling rod for clearance. The furling screw needs to be checked for ease of rotation. Pull a section of line out from the screw about two feet. Hold it separately with both hands and rotate the screw (like a Gennaker furler) to insure smoothness of rotation. This unit also should be flushed with fresh water.
FURLING CONTROL LINE REPLACEMENT
The control line is 10 or 12mm pre stretched double braid. Changing the line is easy.
1. Remove the Sail.
2. Fully unroll the control line from the endless screw, taking note of how much line is on the screw. Put the same number of turns back on.
3. Loosen the locking screw at the bottom of the screw.
4. Remove the line from its housing.
5. Install the new line and make sure that it is flush, but not sticking out.
6. Lock the new line with the lock screw.
7. Proceed by installing the same amount of turns as when removed.
8. Re-install the mainsail. Please be patient, some of the gates are side loading and only a small amount of the sail can be entered at a time.

How do I service the swing keel on my Beneteau?
Lifting Keel Mechanism:
-This special Beneteau system, which is unique in offering a reduced draft for getting into those normally inaccessible anchorage, very good performance under sail and an excellent righting moment, needs to be given some simple annual maintenance before the boat goes back in the water, so that it can continue to function perfectly.
Our advice: carry out this maintenance before you re-launch your Beneteau, taking advantage of her postion in the slings to drop the keel. Carefully clean the inside of the well of the lifting mechanism, remove any seaweed and barnacles. Check the threaded bronz bolt (3). Systematically grease the total length of the tread with a marine grease (4) (Motul LC 300 or similar). Check that the nylon bush is in the centre of the keel attachment mechanism (1). After these checks have been carried out, work the mechanism of functioning well.
-The bronze nut is a wearing part and as such a part must be annually checked and replaced if necessary. To perform this operation follows this methodology: boat on a cradle or held on straps, the lifting keel in the lower position.
1. Unscrew the bolt (1) to unlink the mechanism from the lifting keel.
2. Inside the boat, unscrew the two screw which fixed the nylon bracket (2) at the top of the keel housing.
3. Pull out all the mechanism.
4. Unscrew the brass nut (3) which is originally screwed with thread sealing.
5. Take the endless screw out of the tube (5).
6. Unscrew the bolt THM8 (6) located at the end of the endless screw.
7. Unscrew entirely the endless screw to get the brass nut.
8. Rescrew the new nut on the endless screw and the bolt THM8 with some thread sealing.
9. Put the endless screw back in the tube with a marine grease as Motul LC 300 or similar.
10. Rescrew the brass nut on the tube with strong thread sealing.
11. Refit the mechanism following the points (1) and (2) in the reverse order.
Number of turn to go up or down the lifting keel:
F211 - 103 turns
F260 - 103 turns
OC311 - 103 turns
OC331 - 103 turns
OC361 - 103 turns
To go up: clock wise
To go down: opposite direction to clock wise
